Veteran Legislator Jo Ed Winfree Dies at 71

Veteran Texas legislator Jo Ed Winfree, dean of the Harris County delegation, died at a Houston hospital after a heart attack at age 71. He served in the state House for years before leaving in 1959, was appointed to the State Board of Control in 1962 by Gov Price Daniel, but the Senate did not confirm the nomination.
