Dustin Fleming, a Baytown native and U S Marine Corps veteran, was featured on a University of the Incarnate Word billboard in San Antonio promoting the university’s adult education completion program. Fleming has been recognized at Baytown Veterans Day events for his service and influence from 9/11-era remembrance during Ross S Sterling high school years.

Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Baytown Parks and Recreation Department will host a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Sunday at Veterans Memorial Plaza in Bicentennial Park. Shooting at North Main complex leaves 1 dead, 2 hurt
A Saturday evening shooting at a North Main Street apartment complex left one man dead and two others in hospital with critical and stable injuries. Police say the attack may be retaliation for an assault at the same location the night before, and a beige 2000 Saturn fled the scene as Life Flight airlifted victims to Memorial Hermann.

Baytown approves 71550 TPW grant for bird sanctuary trail
Baytown city council accepted a 71550 grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to build about one mile of decomposed granite trails benches signage and an observation deck at the Myra C. Brown Wild Bird Sanctuary within the Baytown Nature Center. Construction could begin as early as this winter after staff applied for the grant in May 2012.

Baytown Charter Amendments Vote Outcome on Proposals
Voters approved most charter amendments in Baytown while Proposition 2 failed 57 percent to 43 percent. The measure would have paid the mayor up to 1000 per month and council members up to 500, at up to 48000 annually, affecting 19 amendments on the ballot.
