Local veterans groups and service organizations will wreath the event, presented by Parks and Recreation.
U.S. history teacher Brian Valenta proposed a Veterans Day recognition at Robert E. Lee High. He learned Victory Stars from a friend in the Air Force and explained the World War I tradition to honor service members. Principal Bruce Davis supported the plan and faculty joined.
A local veteran Walter Brown brings WWII and Vietnam era items to Lee College Student Center for November display. Items include ration stamps posters soap and records illustrating daily life during war. Library staff describe the collection as a vivid reminder of servicemen's roles in history.
