Thomas to Get Key to City At Honor Picnic
In Baytown on Saturday November 19 1923 Congressman Albert Thomas will receive the key to the city from Mayor B H Pruett at a public picnic staged by United Rubber and Chemical Co employees. The event honors his work at the Tregas One rubber plant saving 300 jobs and may become annual. Grady Sanders chairs the picnic steering with plans for food entertainment including a Baytown Civil Air Patrol show and an engraved plaque of appreciation. The National Guard armory will host serving at 4 p.m. rain or shine.

Jacob W Pierce 71 Baytown resident and longtime refinery official died in a Baytown hospital. Funeral services were held at First Christian church with Rev Clyde Folts officiating. Burial followed at San Jacinto Memorial Park under Earthman's direction. He retired after a long Baytown refinery career and was active in church Masonic groups. He hoped to celebrate a Golden Wedding Anniversary with wife Martha and left behind a daughter Texora Frazier Satterwhite and three grandchildren.

Heart Attack Kills Judge William Mey in Dallas
District Judge William Mey, former Texas attorney general candidate and ex executive director of Variety Club International, died Tuesday at Baylor Hospital in Dallas from a heart attack.
