Double homicide case probes juvenile suspect in Jefferson County
Authorities report two people found dead in the back bedroom of a Cedar Gully home on October 18. The juvenile suspect, now detained, faces psychological evaluations and potential adult certification. Detectives interview witnesses, gather cell records, and await lab analyses that could take months. The Barbers Hill district says it has no jurisdiction over the student’s education. Counseling was offered, and schooling will continue through the facility or state sponsored home schooling if needed. The suspect could face up to 99 years to life if tried as an adult, though penalties depend on future evaluations.
