Charles Victor Thompson, 35, of Tomball, awaiting execution after a re sentencing, slipped into civilian clothes and fled Harris County Jail in Houston. Sheriff’s officials said he fooled staff as details remained under investigation, with Thompson expected to be returned to prison within 45 days. He was condemned for the 1998 shooting deaths of his ex girlfriend Dennise Hayslip and her boyfriend Darren Cain.
