Baytown students plant wetland grass at nature center
Baytown junior high pupils from Baytown Junior and Horace Mann Junior in Goose Creek district joined volunteers to plant cord grass Spartina alterniflora at the Baytown Nature Center. The project, funded by a $25,000 Galveston Bay Estuary Program grant, aims to create a tidal wetland that will protect shorelines and serve as a nursery for juvenile fish crustaceans and birds while monitoring water quality biodiversity and wildlife.
