Passenger in fatal crash with deputy arrested on drug charge
The passenger in the wreck that killed Harris County Deputy Jesse Valdez III and involved a head on collision with Casey Byfield and Kelly Ivey faces a third degree drug felony. Byfield, 36, of Pearland, arrested by Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, has seven prior arrests. Ivey also faces possession charges for methamphetamine after the crash in East Wallisville Road. Deputy Valdez was transported to the hospital.
