Cedar Bayou Baptist Church installed a 100 foot steeple after demolishing its 55 year old sanctuary in 2006. The project, costing about 2.6 million dollars, will seat 1000 and is set to finish mid-summer 2008 with interior work to follow.
Flutist Nicole Thomas guitarist Omeed Tabrizi and singer Camila Kamae showcased talent at a Lee College Exxon Mobil event previewing the new Performing Arts Center. The 57,960 square foot facility will house a black box theater an auditorium for 700 with recording rehearsal and lighting spaces. Exxon Mobil has donated about 3 million over 20 years via a 3 to 1 matching grant program.
