Baytown Clinic will move from West Main to a larger 6,300 square foot Gulf Coast Hospital building on West Sterling. The Eye Clinic will join ophthalmologists Dr. John Thomson and Dr. Richard Thomson, with space for five to six physicians and six to eight exam lanes. Dr. James McKinnon is expected to join early 1972. contact lens services will expand.
The Baytown City Council will discuss Humble Oil and Refining Co interim sanitary sewer service for the new Humble Building on Decker Drive until permanent facilities are funded. Other agenda items include extending Ward Road, sewer pipe types, a dog confinement ordinance, local telephone rates, and utility extension requests for Whispering Pines, Colony Madrid Townhomes, and Donovan Street units.
Services were held for Christian Reuter Chris Myers 78 former Goose Creek mayor and Pelly City secretary at Earthman Chapel. He owned the Democrat in Baytown early on and ran a print shop later. A WWI and WWII veteran, he served as Knights of Pythias chancellor commander and was honored internationally. Survived by wife Roselle and sister Lena, pallbearers were Knights of Pythias. American Legion assisted with military rites. Reverend A L Jordan officiated.

Engineer Frank L. Watson urges extending Park Street east of North Main to Cedar Bayou Road creating a continuous east-west artery for the north Baytown area. The plan cites 5000 vehicles daily by Garth Road, notes poor service, and calls for resurfacing and a minimum 40 foot width, plus no parking near signals during peak hours.

At 3 18 a m Sunday police apprehended two men inside the Mutual Benefit Association Clinic and Pharmacy building 9520 Market after a broken window and torn wood panel were found. Fred Lester Barrett 23 of 1108 Pine and Charles Ray Godfrey 25 of 804 Oak were charged with nighttime burglary and jailed. A change drawer was removed from the cash register.

Funeral services were planned for Baywanis Club member and Baytown town attorney William Ramsey 45 of Lake Livingston at Grace Melrion First United Methodist Church with graveside rites at Crest Cemetery Goose Creek. Ramsey practiced with Reid Strickland Gillette and Ramsey representing Baytown public schools and Lee College. He died Saturday morning of an apparent heart attack. He had suffered a heart attack eight years earlier but remained active, attending Sterling Ball High School game Friday and working on a pier at his lake home Saturday morning. Ramsey was a past president of the Baytown Chamber of Commerce and a longtime Baytown civic figure.
Harris County Tax Assessor-Clect Carl Smith will present precinct line plans at 2 p.m. Thursday to county commissioners. Republican chair Nancy Palm urged some changes citing over 3,500 voters in certain precincts, but the court decided to keep current lines for now and will vote at Monday’s session.
