Sterling Municipal Library offers multiple summer programs for children and teens with required advance registration. Weekly Friday 2 pm free movie viewings. age 7 and under must have adult supervision. groups of 10 or more need advance signup. June workshops include clay pot making for ages 8-11, scrapbook sessions for ages 12-18, album making for ages 8-11, beaded jewelry, and printmaking with sessions on Wednesdays. Registration due one week before each session.
Seniors at Highlands Community Center offer ceramics at 9 a.m. and a Spanish class at 1 p.m. East Harris County Senior Citizen Program runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at J.D. Walker Center. Various clubs meet, including Ladies Bowling League at Max East Bowling Alley, Duplicate Bridge at Market St., TOPS at Remington Park, and Surrender AA at Redeemer Lutheran. Baytown Art League hosts video painting sessions, and Crosby Swinging Squares teaches square dancing. The Crosby Knights of Columbus No. 3229 hosts the 32nd annual Klobassa Festival and Auto Show starting 11 a.m. Sunday at Crosby- Dayton Road building with an auction and raffle alongside klobassa sausage and barbecue chicken.
The Baytown Better Breathers Club will meet Friday at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital to discuss home oxygen systems for COPD patients. The program runs 1 to 3 p.m. in the Cancer Center Community Room and covers insurance costs and delivery devices, followed by a question and answer session. The free group, co sponsored by San Jacinto and the American Lung Association, welcomes residents with lung disease. For information call 281-420-8737.
