Sainty Koufax’s Surprising High School Team Entry
In spring 1953 Sandy Koufax, then a high school senior, tried out for Lafayette High School in Brooklyn and made the baseball team as a substitute first baseman rather than a pitcher. The next year he attended the University of Cincinnati on a basketball scholarship and showed interest in becoming an architect.

The Pirates scored all their runs in the first three innings, turning Houston's eighth inning rally into a near miss after Felix Mantilla hit into a double play with the bases loaded and one out. Ralph Neely Case Goes To Court
NFL tackle Ralph Neely has sued to dissolve an agreement with Bud Adams owner of the Houston Oilers. A U S appellate court ruled Neely must play for the Oilers of the AFL though he spent last season with the Dallas Cowboys. The case centers on a Dec 1, 1964 memo in which Ada Oil Co would buy a service station for Neely in Harris County and Neely signed a pro contract with the Oilers. The district court voided the contract last June, but a Denver circuit court upheld the Oilers appeal.
