City Council to weigh container and barn rules in ULDC amendment

Baytown City Council will consider changing an ordinance to allow residents to use containers and permit barns and stables in residential areas with conditions. The proposed ULDC amendment aims for containers to match existing structures while meeting building codes and zoning. Assistant City Manager Kevin Troller notes the ULDC is three years old and governs standards citywide, including barns and stables. Currently barns and stables are allowed in SF1 and SF2 estates with one acre or more, but encroachment concerns arise in smaller lots. The panel will decide whether to prohibit or permit with conditions. See containers page 7.
