South Carolina recipe love affair yields a moist carrot cake with corn oil and nuts. The method blends grated carrots, chopped nuts, and a flour mix, baking at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes until springy. Cool and store in a tight tin.
Miss Donna Robinson bride-elect of Bobby C Hemsohn of La Grange was honored with a miscellaneous shower at Grace Methodist Church Woman's Building. About 35 guests attended as hostesses presented the bride-elect an electric appliance and corsages were worn by the honoree her mother and grandmother.

Mr and Mrs Jerry D McDonald announce the birth of a daughter named Gloria Christine born May 78 at Baytown Hospital. The baby weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces and has a brother named Michael, 4. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs D C McDonald of Crosby and Mr and Mrs C L Barnhill of Baytown.
Mr and Mrs Jerry Johnson of Baytown announce their son and daughter in law Mr and Mrs Jerry Moreland Johnson now reside in Fort Sill Oklahoma as they wed May 11 at Union Church Hankamer. The groom is a U S Army serviceman stationed at Fort Sill and the bride is Cecelia Laughlin of Hankamer.
Mrs E A Kelso will review The Confessions of Neat Turner by William Styron at the June meeting of the Book Review Club at Citizens Savings and Loan. May session featured Warren The Man The Court The Era reviewed by Mrs Moore with remarks on Chief Justice Karl Warren. Attendees included Mrs William B Horton and Mrs J W Fierce.
