Indians in Canada population changes through history
The World Almanac notes that about 200 000 Indians lived in Canada at initial settlement. By 1900 diseases, alcoholism and food shortages reduced the population to around 100 000. By 1970 self help programs and government aid could raise numbers to about 230 000.
