Stevenson Interview on Europe Policy Quoted by Paris Presse

Paris Presse published quotes from Adlai E. Stevenson about U.S. troop levels in West Berlin and future European defense two days before a summit. Stevenson reportedly suggested reductions from 11,000 to 7,000 troops, with possible further cuts later, and said Europe should be able to defend itself. He denied giving political statements and said the reporter may have confused discussion with opinion. Boulay defended publishing the remarks as they appeared in Paris Presse.
