SHARON Parker daughter of Mr and Mrs Parker of 1320 Willow was struck by a car near HEF Home last night. The child was not seriously injured and two Sunday examinations will determine if she has a fracture. Mrs Parker said a gun preacher from Houston owned the car and that the driver apparently fled. The city’s traffic improvement fund and related financial notices follow in the same column.

Salt water pollution spurs Brazos river rice petitions
Rice farmers across Harris Brazoria Fort Bend and Galveston counties circulated petitions seeking relief from salt water pollution of the Brazos River which has damaged about 25000 acres of rice land. State game warden Frank Mebane of Alvin pledged to stop salt water intrusion though the pollution’s source remained uncertain pending water tests.
