Chambers County deputies arrested 28 year old Michael Brock Morehouse in Winnie after a May 17 raid found multiple discs with child pornography images. Three computers and a small amount of marijuana were seized. Morehouse remains jailed on a $60,000 bond.
A Baytown woman received a scam call from a Hispanic male claiming to help a family member enter the U S from Mexico for 3000 dollars. A theft in the 2300 block of Taft Circle saw 5840 dollars in items stolen including a computer and cash. Between 6 am Sunday and 6 am Monday Baytown police handled 132 calls: 15 alarms two assaults two auto thefts two burglaries one motor vehicle burglary two criminal mischief 16 disturbances one forgery one shot fired two thefts two major accidents and four minor accidents. A Barbers Hill mother and district teacher urged trustees to boost staff development on educating students with autism dyslexia emotional challenges ADHD and students in poverty. She described her 13 year old stepson's struggles and said identification and support are too slow. Board policy prevented action. The district agreed to lease a dormant 10 acre baseball field to Chambers County with county maintenance and annual automatic renewal. The field will be used for Little League and kept under the school name Little Eagle Park potential future sale or transfer terms set a 60 day notice to sell and 30 days to take over.
Harris County Judge Ed Emmett announced a new system classifying storm surge zones by ZIP codes and four evacuation routes from Houston. The plan follows Rita traffic lessons, stressing citizen responsibility, while officials coordinate with counties and cities for evacuation readiness and special needs registration via 211.
Governor's Division of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service urge gathering emergency supplies before hurricane season from June 1 to November 30. Harris County officials unveiled ZIP code based surge zone maps to simplify evacuation planning.
