Board eyes new school after fault at Barbers Hill
Trustees of Barbers Hill School District in Mont Belvieu studied Apex Engineering Corp reports on a land fault under the junior high building. They adopted a resolution May 13 to build a new elementary school in two to three years and convert the present elementary building into a junior high. Apex said repairs costing 80 000 to 145 000 could extend the life of the current structure about 20 years, though not guaranteed. The building could be usable for five years without major work. The district has grown about 10 percent per year over the last decade, prompting growth discussions before the measure.
