May Be Deceptive Economic Slowdown Says AP Analyst
AP Business News Analyst Sam Dawson argues the slowdown may be overestimated as stock markets, auto production, and home building show mixed signals. While stock nosedives chill confidence, steel, defense, and consumer spending remain strong. inventories hold steady, and most forecasters expect no major decline in coming months despite war uncertainties.

Air Force borrows bombs from Navy for Viet Nam use
The Defense Department disclosed that from Jan 1964 to Apr 1966 the Navy supplied the Air Force with more than 400000 bombs from its inventories for Viet Nam air strikes. Most shipments occurred last year as air operations intensified, with 250 and 500 pound bombs common. Officials note the exchange signals broader supply strain despite assurances of no shortage.
