Khrushchev in East Berlin Signals Cautious Moves
Khrushchev’s East Berlin visit hints at a cautious shift after Paris. A massive East Berlin rally was called off by Soviet allies, signaling limits on West Berlin actions. He tied the new mood to the Paris summit blowup and warned that West Berlin cannot be settled at a conference table, while he pressed for moves that keep the city internationalized. Meanwhile Oregon's primary shapes Kennedy versus Morse, with Kennedy urging unity and Morse warning against a Kennedy win altering the Democratic Party. Turnout expected around 50 percent of 786335 registered voters.
