EPA speeds up waste pits solution near San Jacinto site
The EPA moved up its announcement on a permanent cleanup plan for the San Jacinto Waste Pits to July 28, five months earlier than planned. Local leaders say the shift signals momentum, as the site contains dioxin-laced sludge from a Pasadena paper mill and has drawn scrutiny from the Galveston Bay Foundation and residents seeking thorough remediation. The EPA now leads the feasibility study, aiming for a full removal remedy and decisive action for the community.
