Patel group holds Baytown conference center talks
Victor Almendarez and Patel representatives convened a last minute gathering at Bridge Water to gauge Baytown's wishes for a hotel and conference center on Bagland Island. About 40 to 50 residents, including Mayor DonCarlos and City Manager Brumback, offered input on amenities and size while some officials questioned process and Open Meetings Act concerns. The city had set minimum standards: full service hotel of 120 rooms, venue space for 500, on site catering and at least one restaurant, AAA three diamond rating. Patel Investment Group submitted the sole proposal so far, with site and option details undetermined.
