Barbers Hill softball coach resigns amid investigation
Perri Smith resigned Wednesday as head coach of the Barbers Hill softball team after being placed on paid administrative leave in May for violating the district communication policy regarding students. Internal probes into alleged inappropriate texting with a student continue, while varsity assistant Jennifer Manning and junior varsity coach Sharlene Barnett lead the team. Smith had coached since 2008, guiding a 25-0 run and top state ranking. Barbers Hill remains undefeated at 29-0 and faces Santa Fe in the fourth round of playoffs tonight at 6 30 p.m.
