Remedial and development reading classes for elementary and junior students will be offered this summer at Fee College. Enrollment is limited and registration is underway in the admissions office.
Baytown Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol bound temporary headquarters at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Caroline and Kentucky. They lost their former meeting place when Lillie Memorial Airport was sold. Father Joseph Perez and Msgr. Joseph P. O'Sullivan aided Commander James A. Isbel and cadets in obtaining the building for meetings. Meetings will continue Tuesdays from 7 to 9 30 p.m.

Mrs. Charlotte Turner Huntley of 506 William Apt 35 was injured when a pickup driven by Robert Ellis of South Houston ran a red light at West James and North Main Thursday morning. Her car struck the rear of a parked Massey vehicle in a lot, Ellis faces a red light violation charge.
Walter Rossow's Enco Service Station at 7119 Bayway was burglarized early Thursday. Lt. B. J. Ausley and Officer M. A. Jordan found an opened window on routine rounds. Damage estimated at $750 with no items reported missing.
Don Padgett of Baytown earned a $1000 scholarship to study in Spain this summer. Chosen by the University of Houston foreign language department, he leaves May 27 from New York for Granada University in Malaga, then tours Spain before returning in late August. He will receive a second UH degree, a BA in Spanish, while already holding a 1964 BS in pharmacy. He is active in Phi Kappa Phi Sigma Delta Pi and Rho Chi societies and has worked as a pharmacist.
Funeral services for Clyde Odell Smith 46 of Baytown will be at 10 30 a m Saturday at Barthman Chapel with burial in Memory Gardens of Baytown Cemetery He died at 4 40 a m Thursday in a Houston hospital Survivors include his wife five sons mother three brothers and three sisters He was a veteran and musician member of Houston Local 87 The Baytown Sun union chapel chairman and St Paul's Lutheran Church Pallbearers listed. Mrs Maggie Palmer of Apt 28 Lincoln Courts will have services at 1 p m Sunday at High Point Baptist Church Stoneham with burial in the church cemetery Survivors include four sons a daughter five brothers five sisters plus many grandchildren great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Washington reports show a cooling economy with Dow Jones at a seven year low and prices rising faster than projected for the first quarter while production suffers its steepest drop since 1960. A veteran House member urges monthly campus weekends for lawmakers to hear student voices, proposing 60 to 70 volunteers per session to speak where requested.

The South Texas Diabetes Association plans a fourteenth annual Children's Diabetic Camp from June 7 to 25 at Camp Manison near Friendswood. Activities include swimming archery horseback riding and golf with medical direction by Dr. Luther B. Travis UT staff. Camp is for ages 6 to 16 with campership funds available and applications via Mrs. Charles E. Horne Texas City.
City Atty Laughlin said the city can force sanitary premises but complaints are rare. Council members discuss tightening animal control ordinances and plan a meeting with the ordinance committee, Laughlin, Police Chief Wilkinson, Ted Kleoesel, and four veterinarians to refine proposals.
Mrs. Ethel Hull is in satisfactory condition with fractured ribs after a 6 49 p m collision on Market Street near Lee Drive. Victor Louis Banks, a student of 707 N 12th in a Parte, told police his brakes failed and he ran a red light, hitting Roberta Hull Thomas and pushing both cars into Martha Faye Watson’s vehicle. Banks was charged with defective brakes and running a red light.
