Mincher Eyes Starting Spot as Power Presses Twins Lineup
Vic Power, once Minnesota’s starter at first, faces an uncertain future as Don Mincher’s hot hitting boosts the rookie into the lineup. Mincher slugged his fourth homer in five games as Minnesota beat the White Sox 15-7, with Power’s defense still strong but obscured by five power hitters. The Twins’ barrage also included Jimmie Hall, Harmon Killebrew, and Oliva, while Rollins drove in five and Fillebrew hit two homers in the win. Meanwhile Washington beat Baltimore 4-1 and Detroit toppled New York 7-3.
