Crosby Appeals TEA Accreditation Ruling Tentative

Crosby School District faces two summer chances to appeal the Texas Education Agency report recommending discontinuing its state accreditation. TEA official Ken Clover notes the decision is a recommendation and other steps apply. If voters pass a $2.2 million bond May 24, the district can present new information to seek a one year extension or restoration of accreditation.

Nixon to Assess Vietnam Efforts in TV Address

State Budget Fight Rages On In Austin

In Austin legislative budget writers move to insure about 19.4 million extra for general appropriations by diverting funds. Lt. Gov. Barnes and Speaker Mutscher clash with Gov. Baytown Plans $10.8 Million Bond Study

Baytown City Council opens a series of subcommittee meetings on the Capital Improvements study to decide which recommendations become a bond issue. Mayor Glen Walker says the water facilities subcommittee will broaden its scope to include surface water supply and discuss future treated water with San Jacinto River Authority and Trinity River Authority officials. The central committee’s $10.8 million bond plan is under review for voter submission while council studies feasibility and community impact.

Bayshore Club to Discuss Austin Wildlife Meet

Baytonian receives Bronze Star for Vietnam service

Specialist George W. Glenn 26, of Baytown has been awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground operations in Vietnam. He is home on leave visiting family before a 16 month assignment in Frankfurt to wind up his tour with the Army. Glenn, a Robert E. Lee graduate and former teacher, serves in the signal corps.
