Bank acquits trucker in fourteen thousand bank error case
Sacramento May 14 a three year old truck driver H Perry of Caruthers Calif was acquitted of larceny after a jury found he did not steal fourteen thousand dollars given to him by Excharge Bank of Santa Rosa California. The bank had mistaken him for someone else and Perry had received the money in installments. When arrested he told agents the bank simply gave him the money and he had quit his job to enjoy the spree.

Washington May 14 United Press Adams refused to discuss a January Army McCarthy dispute meeting saying he was instructed by higher officials not to testify. He testified he met with Herbert Brownell Sherman Adams and others on the Army's troubles with on the subcommittees. He said the meeting discussed a written record of incisantson concerning G David Schine. Senator Symington pressed about Henry Cabot Lodge Jr attendance. Army counsel Welch noted Adams was under executive department instructions. Adams said the Army balked at a New York assignment for Schine to avoid undermining the draft law. He did not rule out Francis Carr in the matter and said Carr was a passive participant at times but a partner in efforts. Instructions reportedly came from the Defense Department via Robert B. Anderson.

Rabies Unit Proposed For Countywide Initiative

Planes Hunt Missing Fisherman Near Galveston Bay
A three man shrimping party set out from Seabrook Wednesday afternoon. Joe Hrachovy, 63, disappeared after their four foot craft capsized in rough Galveston Bay waters. Graves and Dremial were rescued, with Graves hospitalized and Dremial injured but alive. Helicopters and Coast Guard cutters aided the search, hampered by high waves and wind. The missing man’s gasoline tank, seen earlier, was recovered north of Texas City.

Baytown's new Optimist club will receive its charter at an eight o clock dinner Monday in the Humble Dining Room.
