Lyndon Johnson Deal Favored by Harris County Democrats
Liberals and conservatives in Harris County Houston flirt with a deal to endorse Sen. Lyndon B. Johnson at the Democratic convention. Observers say loyalty clauses and division within factions make a Johnson endorsement unlikely without concessions. Precinct results show mixed support and many conservatives wary of a Johnson vote. The Credentials Committee will meet Friday to seat delegates, signaling a wider contest at Saturday’s court convention.
