Baytown weighs body cameras amid shooting video fight
A Baytown shooting led to a police officer firing at a man who held a pellet gun in the intersection of West Texas Avenue and Gaillard Street. The city appealed an open records request for dashcam video, which a state panel ruled to withhold. Council faces discussion on body cameras and related costs and access issues. Baytown officials note cameras could improve accountability, with pilot testing ongoing and budget constraints cited. City channels offer live and on-demand video of meetings and events.
