Baytown trustees accept a District 124A recommendation to raise football admission for the 1966 season, uniform across the district. Robert E. Lee and Sterling reserved season tickets rise to 1.25. other season tickets 1.50. general admission 1. pregame student 50 cents. game day student 75 cents. B squad adults 50 cents. Athletic director Dan Stallworth cites operation costs and 1840s prices. Baytown’s Ross Sterling treated as varsity at home. JV/varsity determine road pricing. Basketball prices also rise: student 35 cents, adults 75 cents.
The school board spent three hours in a committee of the whole to discuss eliminating dissension. Dr L D Victory and John Harding were asked to leave after protesting reporters and public exclusion. Trustees debated press coverage and whether to reopen meetings to the public, with President Seth Mitchell urging open dialogue and public ownership of the schools.

National Humane Society field consultant John Marston visits the city dog pound amid a week of humane department work. Police chief Blair Mann aims for an army-like cleanup while officers fix drains and upgrade facilities. Karl Springer, a La Porte area Realtor since 1960 and former Air Force colonel, will address the Baytown Chamber of Commerce at the Holiday Inn Friday noon. Fort Worth officials report that Houston Harris County region planning group must form before city aid applications can advance. Mayor Cravey and City Manager Lanham met Emil Huber of HUD who noted preliminary conferences are required. City previously sought 226000, revised to 136000. past grants total over 400000 under another law.
Mrs. Joe Palka found two copies of the old Daily Sun from 1939 and 1940. Front pages show Roosevelt leading in East Harris in 1940 and a Baytown woman voting by ambulance. City races, annexation disputes, and wartime era ads and sports notes populate the issue summaries.
City engineers estimate Park Street drainage ditch work costs around 20000 dollars for concrete pipe and drainage, plus right of way acquisition from Baytown Carpenters Local 1334. Mayor Cravey favors proceeding if Gray’s savings proposal reduces overall expense.
Shell Oil will sponsor a drivers safety test broadcast nationwide on Channel 12 May 24 to educate the public on highway caution. A public meeting is set for 4 p.m. Tuesday May 1 at San Jacinto College to explain the program. Baytown La Porte Deer Park and Pasadena leaders were invited. L J Hallmark of Shell Houston plant invited city officials and chamber leaders to the briefing, with invitations sent to Seaborn Cravey Fritz Lanham George Gentry Edon Berry Dave Moore and Pasadena Chamber president Tom Spencer.
Chambers County Clerk B. Gimbo Wooldridge and Richard McClain of Houston will address the Highlands Civic Council Thursday night in the Highlands Junior Highland room. Wooldridge will urge civic projects for community improvement while McClain will explain how the public can benefit from the Houston Better Business Bureau services. A saxophone quartet will perform and a plan will be presented for cleanup week. New committees will be formed and the public is invited to attend at 7:22 p.m.
