Lee College District Regents Forum Voters Meet Six Candidates

Baytown Youth Fair opens with strong livestock entries

Erin Smith, Sterling High School, shows seven breed rabbits and three meat rabbits at the 44th Baytown Youth Fair & Rodeo opening night. She boasts a fifth in market rabbits and several firsts and seconds in breed rabbits while keeping more than 100 rabbits and planning to continue showing after graduation. Grandpa and parents also showed at Baytown Fair, underscoring a family tradition as exhibitors describe the fair as more than livestock, a path to responsibility. Sammy Hotchkiss notes children gain math skills while participating, and eighth-grader Brittney Shaw wins Grand Champion for breed turkeys and Reserve Grand for market turkeys, after trying turkeys for the first time.

Doyle c ontinued from Page A ballot runoff concerns linger

In Baytown election coverage Mahan notes a possible runoff with Jirrels while Doyle backs continued candidacy. Four District 2 voters moved to District 6 learned they could not vote in the District 6 race due to a clerical redistricting error. City Clerk Gary Smith blamed street-by-street district changes and confirmed there is no remedy to allow a second ballot.

Goose Creek school board reviews future goals and dress code

Goose Creek ad hoc committee wrapped up talks on high school facilities and ninth grade centers. The board aims to merge visions with district planning to shape 2014 tech, space, and programs while adding community members to the committee. Dress code changes were approved for Horace Mann Intermediate students. Outgoing board member Danes Lewis praised colleagues after seven years of service.

Early voting centers listed for city school district and college elections

Voters may cast ballots at multiple locations through today using a valid registration card or approved ID. Acceptable IDs include drivers licenses birth certificates passports utility bills bank statements and pay stubs. Locations include Baytown City Hall Lee College Mont Belvieu Barbers Hill ISD Beach City and Old River Winfree sites with varying hours.

Coach Gutierrez suspended amid investigation into student complaint

Gutierrez, married and a longtime substitute, began teaching and coaching business at Sterling this school year. He missed two playoff games after suspension on April 29 and May 1. CPS found the report vague and not abusive, while Baytown Police said no report existed. Hutchins started an internal probe now with Bernard Cannariato reviewing results within about two weeks.
