AstroTurf improves safety and play on Indiana field
Indiana schools and Monsanto officials promote AstroTurf as a cushioned surface reducing injuries. Twenty high schools and five color games this season used the nylon pile field installed last September, with players noting faster movement and safer cuts. Maintenance runs about five hours monthly and rain has little effect. A mishap with a lit baton revealed one flaw. Professional teams contemplate adoption nationwide.
