Rail crash near Beasley kills SP fireman Joe Kruppa

A Rio Grande Valley passenger train jumped the rails near Beasley Texas, killing fireman Joe E Kruppa of Houston. Engineer Sam H Koenig of Houston crawled free and was treated at Polly Ryan Hospital in Richmond. Ruth Mathews 21 Dies After Long Illness in Houston

Ruth Mathews twenty one, former Southwestern Bible Institute student at Waxahachie, died eight forty p m Tuesday in a Houston hospital after a yearlong illness. A Baytown native who lived near Tri City Beach Road, she came from Regional Schools to study for mission work. Ill for about a year after entering the Bible Institute, she was treated in Houston for nearly three years. Funeral at Central Assembly of God Church Friday at 3 with Rev Owens officiating, burial in Hill of Rest Cemetery. Survived by four brothers Donald, Gasle, Ralph, Harold Mathews. parents died about six years ago.
