Weed Control Information Available In Anahuac
1968 revision of weed control recommendations for Texas is available from Chambers County Agent J R Carroll. Findings show herbicides can cut costs and boost yields versus hand labor. Preplant and preemergence herbicides cost 2.50 to 8.00 per acre, while hoeing runs 12 to 14 per acre. Postemergence treatment in grain sorghum yielded 880 pounds per acre extra. Bulletin 61029, Suggestions for Weed Control with Chemicals, is a joint Texas Extension Service and Agricultural Experiment Station publication. Also notes spray equipment and herbicide use on noncrop sites and fallow cropland. Corrals and holding facilities for cattle are described, with recommended chute lengths and widths.
