Baytown school superintendent George H. Gentry is included in the 1962 63 Who's Who in America with 240 biographies of notable figures. The Baytown leader, a former Temple and Big Spring educator, has guided enrollment growth to 11 200 over 16 years and helped expand facilities including the Lee College plant opened in 1951. He holds degrees from Baylor University UT and Columbia Teachers College and is active in Phi Delta Kappa Kappa Delta Pi and local chambers and associations.

Delegates chosen at precinct conventions last Saturday will vote as a unit under the unit rule. Conservatives and Liberals are nearly even as Kilgarlin ousted Coolidge for the party chair. Delegates per precinct combine votes from the gubernatorial race to determine totals.

On Tuesday two Brown & Root workers died while unloading a barge six miles south of Anahuac. Leroy Banks of Wallisville and James Broussard of Ames drowned after Banks slipped into nine feet of water as Broussard attempted a rescue. A Houston transporter, Allen Higginbotham, 26, was jailed on negligent homicide charges after crashing into a barricade at Old River Bridge while a third man, Bowling, 26 of Orange, died in a separate truck collision. Both bodies were recovered within an hour and the deaths ruled accidental drownings.

Miss Mary Perry, a French teacher at Robert E. Lee High School, won a national defense language grant to study French civilization and language methodology at the University of Oklahoma from June 4 to July 24. The program features language labs with tape recorders and earphones, with conversations conducted entirely in French.
