U S cotton crop final estimate for 1960 issued
The Agriculture Department pegs the 1960 cotton crop at 14,551,008 bales with a farm value of about 2.2815 billion dollars. Compared with 1959's 11,512,000 bales valued at 1.8123 billion and the 1958-57 average of 14,046,000 bales, last year’s crop benefited from a federal control program. Cottonseed production reached 5.84 million tons worth 232.039 million dollars versus 4.796 million tons and 210.262 million in 1958.
