La Porte police seek 23 year old Johnny Angel Lara for allegedly using a home security salesman uniform and ID to trap a woman in her residence. Lara has prior theft and marijuana arrests and worked for a contract firm tied to ADT in La Porte. Police request information leading to his arrest.
Friends of Cedar Bayou United shifted focus to air quality during Tuesday session with Matthew Tejada, executive director of Air Alliance Houston. He introduced the group and its history from the former Galveston Houston Area Association for Smog Prevention as a cleaner air advocate for the Houston area.
ExxonMobil hosted a Cinco de Mayo event with Ernesto Nieto, president and founder of the National Hispanic Institute, as guest speaker. The program highlighted Mexican heritage and pride with attendance by Mark Devlin, Ernest, and Inesto Nieto. Nieto has received the Eagle Leadership Award from the El Paso City Council.
Volunteers of all ages gathered Saturday to plant smooth cordgrass at the Baytown Nature Center to restore lost habitat. Hosted by the Galveston Bay Foundation, Marsh Mania engages locals in marsh restoration while boosting wetland awareness. Since inception, over 6,300 volunteers have restored about 195 acres across 69 Galveston Bay sites, at a 450-acre preserve once home to the Brownwood subdivision.
