Two Women Found Slain Near Alvin Texas
Two women near Alvin were found shot to death, one identified as Kath im a car. Investigators said both were south of Alvin and struck in the face by shotgun blasts. The bodies lay in a car trunk after an anonymous tip to Brazoria County deputies. A second item reports a motor cycle collision at Main and Wallisville in Highlands with injuries.

Space Flight Capsule Lands After Splashdown With Shepard Rescue
Recovery ships spotted the red and white parachute as the capsule hit the sea. A helicopter crew lifted Shepard from the capsule and he walked from the craft under his own power to a medical facility. He is to be flown to Grand Bahama Island for 24 hours of tests and then to Washington for a White House reception.
