EPA panel discusses dioxin testing and cleanup steps at San Jacinto site
At a San Jacinto River Coalition meeting EPA official Gary Miller outlined the Superfund process from remedial investigation to record of decision and remedial design. Residents pressed for water well testing and faster notification, while noting the long seven year timeline since listing in 2008 and potential two year removal options. The San Jacinto Waste Pits area on the river’s west bank, a 1960s landfill for a paper mill, remains under evaluation with public input ongoing.
