Portraits honor Texas service members and raise community support
Ken Pridgeon, a retired sign painter and veteran, paints large portraits of Texas soldiers who died in Iraq or Afghanistan, surrounding each subject with scenes from their lives. A nonprofit, started by local supporters, funds the project as it expands to include hundreds more portraits. The May 19 event includes a vendor fair, a color guard ceremony, and displays of military vehicles, with prints of Pridgeon’s Texas Avenue series available.
