Letters Warn Owners of Junk Vehicles in Baytown
Assistant Police Chief R. H. Bor Turner reports about 430 letters were mailed since April 1 to Baytown residents with junked vehicles on private property. Notices warn that vehicles create a public nuisance and may lead to municipal court action with up to 200 dollars per day fines if not removed within 10 days. About 250 replies have come in and only seven or eight owners faced court, with all removing vehicles before trial. Vehicles must display 1972 license plates and current inspection stickers.
