REL Student Named National Merit Scholar for Rice

David R. Walker of 904 Jeetwood, a Robert E. Lee High School senior, earned a National Merit Scholarship as one of 950 nationwide college sponsored scholars. He will study pre law at Rice University and holds the Cohn Merit Scholarship. the program requires finalists to be top performers from about 14,000 semifinalists.

Transfers Sought Into Baytown Schools For 1973 74

Baytown officials began accepting transfer applications for students moving from other districts for the 1973 74 year. Deadline is May 31. Applications are handled by Mrs Janet Stanbury in the administration building. Final TEA approval will determine acceptance. Existing Baytown students living outside the district may not need to apply.
