Texan helps transform Haitian ER through volunteer work
Johnson and two other volunteers arrived January 25 for a weeklong mission at Haitian Community Hospital. They helped convert courtyards into emergency rooms with tarps and PVC structures and assisted triage to free the hospital’s indoor ER for surgeries. Johnson recalls the slower, patient-centered Haitian approach and precious calls home to his family during a 36 hour shift before returning to Texas.
