Dan Duncan chronicled as Houston’s wealthiest resident and self-made oil pioneer
Forbes named Dan Duncan 74th on the 2010 worldwide billionaires list with a 9 billion net worth. He grew from Humble Oil worker to the founder of a major enterprise, donating millions to MD Anderson, Texas Heart Institute, Boy Scouts, Houston Zoo and Baylor College of Medicine. Friends recall his humble beginnings, character, and drive, including sleeping in his car to avoid hotels, as he built his plant and community impact.
