Texas fund fails to hit job goals with two firms
Countrywide Financial and Washington Mutual missed their Texas Enterprise Fund job targets by 1600 and 192 respectively, per AP figures. Both have laid off thousands nationwide and were taken over by other firms after receiving tens of millions in state aid under Gov. Perry. A spring blizzard hit the Texas Panhandle with up to a foot of snow, closing highways and bringing 45 mph winds. In Houston a federal judge sentenced a man to nearly four years for fire arm purchases linked to drug trafficking in Mexico. In San Antonio a Fort Sam soldier was indicted for stockpiling and selling military inventory valued at nearly $1 million.
