Texas lawmakers prepare 30 day session on school funding
Gov. Rick Perry insists on fixing the unconstitutional Texas property tax by June 1 before any school reform bills, including a $2,000 teacher raise, can be considered. The special session starting April 17 will be narrowly focused on tax reform to restore local control and prevent the loss of funds to 1,037 districts.

Stocks slide on higher oil prices and rate fears

At 12 24 p m Wednesday a Houston construction worker waiting near Exxon Mobil security gate at 5200 Bayway Drive drew police after security surrounded his car. He had an outstanding Harris County warrant and was arrested. Between 6 a m Wednesday and 6 a m Thursday Baytown Police handled 167 calls including 14 alarms and various crimes.
