Baytown group urges keep old Bayou Road crossing
Baytown Planning Commission asks Harris County Commissioners Court to retain the right of way from Tri City Beach Road to Cedar Bayou across an old route that once led to McKinney Ferry. They study a future street to Cedar Bayou crossing aiding access to new steel mill property. County Commissioner Ramsey says he will oppose abandoning the right of way while the commission opposes it. The fence has stood since 1940 after the ferry’s removal. U S Steel contended final abandonment action never occurred. The steel firm sought action in a hearing set for Monday in Houston.
