Texans See Immigration as Serious Problem in Poll

A Serips Howard Texas Poll shows 86 percent view illegal immigration from Mexico as a very or somewhat serious issue. The poll finds broad support for Bush's plan to grant temporary visas to undocumented workers, with 59 percent in favor and 40 percent opposed among Hispanics, 59 percent of Anglos in favor, 45 percent opposed, and 56 percent of blacks opposing. The survey also asks if illegal immigrants take jobs Americans won’t take or steal jobs from Americans who need them.
