The Bowie PTA meets at 2 15 pm Tuesday at the school. Fourth grade students will present the program and the nominations and bylaws committee reports. The executive committee meets at 1 pm. Also noted are other local school and community notices and upcoming events.
The Baytown Sun will publish its annual Progress report for the Greater Baytown Chamber of Commerce. The 2 page tabloid features chamber activities and profiles of people who drive the Chamber of Commerce, praising Baytown merchants for their support and impact on growth.
Baytown readers will attend the annual Chamber of Commerce banquet at Goose Creek Country Club with Heath Larry of U S Steel as speaker. Larry, based in Pittsburg and New York, is executive vice president and assistant to Robert Blough. The program includes social hour, color slides, and remarks by retiring President Eldon Berry and incoming President Bruce Ramsey.
Texas lawmakers begin week with a busy alcohol agenda. Senate committee will hear opposed liquor amendments by Sen. Berry while Gov Connallys bill faces House scrutiny. Wednesday the House Education Committee will review a history text expansion bill co authored by Rep. Graves and Rep. Cruz.

Moderate Republicans question if Ronald Reagan may mount a serious bid for the 1968 GOP nomination. The Ripon Society notes signs of a possible nationwide run, potentially drawing Southern support if Nixon falters. The San Angelo gauge records .75 inches with showers roaming the state. Temperatures stayed unusually mild from 38 in Dalhart to higher readings in Corpus Christi. A weak Pacific cold front nudged Panhandle and East Texas temps but few other impacts expected as showers fade tonight.
Washington AP reports governors returned to desks after meeting with the President as federal grants to states are released from hold. Johnson said funds held since fall for anti inflation measures will flow and grow, with federal aid in 5 years possibly quadrupling from recent levels.
